Entrevista de Javier Romero Manero a Investir

Javier: ¿De qué países son las personas con las que entablasteis comunicación en la primera fase del proyecto?¿ A que intervalo de edad pertenecen? ¿Y los voluntarios en Murcia?

Investir: Intentamos contactar con gente de Mauritania, Sahara Occidental, Libia, Marruecos, Túnez, Egipto, Sudan y Algeria. De Mauritania y Sahara Occidental no tuvimos ningún participante, de Sudán sólo dos. Las edades iban desde 16- 45 años.

En Murcia, los voluntarios tenían entre 20 y 45 años aproximadamente.

J: ¿Cuáles son los objetivos de vuestro proyecto? ¿Con esta intervención/proyecto pretendéis que la gente reaccione? ¿Está como objetivo que la intervención de los voluntarios en Murcia se traduzca en actuaciones concretas de los ciudadanos?

I: Los objetivos son varios. Primero, queríamos crear una obra que realmente fuera un diálogo… que es lo que realmente cruza todo el proyecto: nuestro diálogo con la gente del norte de África y con la gente de Murcia, el diálogo de los que llevan la camiseta y los que la leen y, por último, el diálogo entre la gente de Murcia y los participantes del Norte de África a través de la documentación que estos últimos pueden ver en nuestro blog. También teníamos la intención de ocupar el espacio público, como con otras obras que hemos llevado a cabo. Finalmente queríamos infiltrar la voz de gente del Norte de África, elegida al azar, en la realidad de una ciudad murciana… y que esta voz estuviera “viva”.

Con este proyecto no pretendemos ninguna reacción en concreto… bueno, esperamos que la gente lea los mensajes, pero éstos no tienen una función imperativa… es decir, no pensamos en reacciones concretas… Seguro que la gente reaccionará, todo el mundo reacciona de alguna manera, la indiferencia también es un tipo de reacción.

J: En esta primera parte del proyecto la comunicación que establecisteis fue a través de redes sociales; se realizó pues, por internet, por lo que se puede considerar un dato significativo, dado que en estos países el porcentaje de población que tiene acceso a internet es muy bajo. ¿Cómo afecta esto a los objetivos de vuestro proyecto? ¿Se llevó a cabo de esta manera con una idea determinada o influyó el presupuesto con el que contabais?

I: Bueno, creo que para este proyecto, Internet es ideal. Claro que el presupuesto influyó… no obstante, si hubiésemos contado con un mayor presupuesto, probablemente hubiésemos hecho otro tipo de proyecto. Internet nos dio la posibilidad de acceder a un grupo de gente de manera rápida e inmediata y, de forma continua durante tres meses. Es decir, en todo momento había alguien conectado con ganas de chatear. Por otro lado, la gente podía elegir cuándo hablar con nosotras/responder nuestras preguntas. Además, pudimos respetar el medio a través del cual esos mensajes nos llegaron a nosotras, la palabra escrita. Éramos concientes de que el acceso a Internet no es generalizado, pero aquellos que lo tienen pertenecen, en su mayoría a la clase media/media alta, es decir, son los que más o menos pueden determinar el rumbo del país y, sobre todo, justamente por tener internet son los que más consumen la imagen de Europa/EEUU.

J: El hecho de que las camisetas sean de comercio justo y ecológicas, y el que se comunique, ¿tiene que ver con una filosofía de vida relacionada con otros aspectos medioambientalmente sostenibles? i Collective suele incluir estos aspectos en sus actuaciones? ¿Como cuáles?

I: Bueno, tiene que ver con la intención de poner “el granito de arena”. Hoy por hoy es muy difícil ser 100% ecológico, pero se intenta hacer lo que se puede. De todas formas, nuestro punto fundamental era buscar camisetas de comercio justo, es decir, en cuya producción no hubiese involucrado trabajo infantil. Si, además, eran ecológicas, mejor aún. Sinceramente i Collective no incluye explícitamente estos aspectos en sus proyectos… pero quizás deberíamos empezar.

J: ¿Cómo se vende un proyecto como éste? ¿Encontráis facilidades por parte de instituciones o ayuntamientos para realizarlo?

I: Si te refieres a cómo se comercializa…. Puf, es difícil… no lo pensamos directamente a la hora de desarrollar el proyecto. Pero seguramente se podría vender, llegado el caso, la documentación del proyecto (fotos, vídeo). Y, para ser sincera, es muy difícil conseguir apoyo para realizar este tipo de proyectos, en los que no hay un “objeto aurático” que comercializar.

J: ¿Habeis obtenido soporte económico por parte de la organización de Manifesta 8 o del Ayuntamiento de Murcia, han sido necesarias subvenciones o ha sido autogestionado?

I: El proyecto ha sido financiado por Eventos Paralelos Manifesta 8, no sé exactamente de dónde reciben el dinero ellos.

J: En gran medida vuestras propuestas son intervenciones en el espacio urbano y en los medios de transporte. Es un arte que busca a la gente allí donde pasa a diario, en vez de un arte que se sabe donde encontrar, como en el caso de un museo. En vuestra experiencia a lo largo de diferentes proyectos, ¿pensáis que es una arte que afecta más directamente a las personas, debido a su carácter abierto, imprevisible y que busca suscitar el interrogante, o por el contrario, es menos valorado por el público en general por carecer del soporte de una institución de prestigio, como en el caso de las obras musealizadas?

I: Supongo que la forma en que es valorado depende de la sensibilidad de cada persona… De todas formas, lo bueno es que haya arte para toda clase de espectador, ¿no?

Carne de yugo, ha nacido
